Gunnar Lindmark is a professor of psychology, while his wife Meret find here a reminiscent of an old extramarital love, ceased because of her lover's death. This crisis triggers jealousy of the professor who kills the Italian guy.

Two lovers spend a holiday on an Italian island and make the acquaintance of a Swedish psychologist and his wife, who stay at the same hotel. The middle-aged professor seems suspicious of the couple's openly sexual relationship. His wife is troubled by old memories of snowy Sweden.—Ron Altman
