What is important in life? Getting money by losing moral values, relations etc or leading a life with conviction and thus winning hearts and trust of near and dear.

Nagaraj (played by Sivakumar) and Sampath (played by Rajinikant) are road side vendors whose relationship develop into trusted friendship. Nagaraj is uncompromising in his affairs and tries to make gains in all transactions, be business or personal. Sampath is righteous persons who leads a life with contentment. Nagaraj becomes successful in his affairs while Sampath struggles. Nagaraj is weak in matters of women and makes Bhuvana (played by Sumitra) pregnant in an illicit affair. Nagaraj is not willing to marry Bhuvana and marries his god-man's daughter. Sampath marries Bhuvana to restore pride of already struggling family of Bhuvana. The struggle is mainly due to untimely death of Bhuvana's elder brother played by Y.G. Mahendra. Bhuvana delivers a baby boy, named Babu, from the illicit relationship. In change of circumstances, Nagaraj and his wife are unable to beget offspring from their marriage. Nagaraj tries to adopt the baby boy Babu from Sampath and Bhuvana. The friendship between Nagaraj and Sampath gets into trouble. What happened to their friendship, who gets Babu and what happens to Bhuvana, Sampath and Nagaraj forms the rest of the plot.—Kannan Ganesan
