Power struggle during Napoleonic war times. The Swedish King is getting old. General Bernadotte in the army of Napoleon becomes the new Crownprince. Napoleon sends the criminal/spy Maurice to the Swedish court, to manipulate the old Swedish King, crown prince Bernadotte and the love couple Louise and officer Erik Tidell who is in charge of bringing (the future Swedish king) Bernadotte from France to Sweden.
