Summaries

At a certain distance, the Berlenga Island reveals the only evidence of human presence, the tall tower of its lighthouse. Berlenga is a very small island near the Portuguese shore and has only two inhabitants, Mr. Veríssimo and Mrs. Marieta. They live there through the year, between sunny days and hard rain. In the summer, tourists go there to admire its beauty where it's possible to dive through coral reefs and sunken ships, but in the winter the seagulls takeover the entire island. Since 1981, the Berlengas Islands are a protected environment and in 2011 was recognized with the UNESCO's World Heritage Biosphere Reserve title. This documentary is a time capsule that shows how fragile and underestimated this ecosystem is and values the balance between Man and Nature.—Anonymous
