Synopsis

We witness barristers as they handle a variety of cases for a wide range of clients. Barristers handle around 90,000 cases each year and handle the full spectrum of legal problems. The documentary team followed 14 of Northern Ireland's leading barristers for 15 months and gained an unrivalled behind the scenes look at this part of the British legal system.

Cameras followed a range of cases that reflects the day to day work that goes on in court houses across Northern Ireland - everything from a parent trying to sort out contact with their children, people hurt in accidents taking personal injury cases, religious discrimination at work, families going through a Public Inquiry. Our cameras followed one case all the way to the highest court in the land, the Supreme Court in London. This series reveals a world that many of us have never seen.

The series is narrated by Conleth Hill ('Games of Thrones' HBO & 'Suits' USA Network).

Episode One:A ground breaking documentary series following some of Northern Ireland's leading legal minds. For the first time ever viewers have access to the working of Belfast's courts. Over 15 months cameras were given unprecedented access to the barristers, their cases and the court system. In this first episode a mother fights for contact with her children; there's a legal challenge to re-hiring former police officers and a case is heading for court seeking compensation for people living under electricity pylons.

Episode Two:Second in a ground breaking documentary series following some of Northern Ireland's leading legal minds. For the first time ever cameras have access to the working of Belfast's courts. Over 15 months we are given unprecedented access to the barristers, their cases and the court system. In this episode a business sues Derry City Council over unpaid bills; a man injured at work is seeking damages and we see how a top barrister prepares to fight a major criminal case.

In this episode a Public Inquiry tries to discover how five children died in hospital after being given the wrong treatment, a family get back some of the money lost when an international property investment went wrong and we follow a young barrister as he tries to build his practice.

For the first time ever cameras have access to the working of Belfast's courts. Over 15 months we have been given unprecedented access to the barristers, their cases and the court system. A barrister takes the Government's Department of Justice to the Supreme Court in London, there's a court battle to save an historic Belfast building, a religious discrimination case heads to a tribunal and we meet the next generation of top barristers.
