In 1884, the United States Army sent Lt. Adolphus W. Greely and 24 men to the high Arctic to explore and take scientific measurements. Three years later Greely and his five remaining men were found near death just 800 miles from the North Pole. One hundred and twenty years later, six Arctic explorers returned to the coast of Ellesmere Island in the Canadian High Arctic to try and become the first people to retrace Greely's route and to determine what went wrong; after a near fatal accident the team discovered just how dangerous this place can be.—Anonymous
