A lonely housewife, who gave up her promising singing career to marry an idealistic village-doctor, begins to regret her decision.

Nirmal Chaudhary becomes a doctor and starts his practice in Nandgaon, a remote village. He meets with Anuradha Roy, a well-known singer and dancer, and they fall in love while he treats her injured ankle. They get married, and re-locate to Nandgaon where Anuradha gives up her singing and becomes a housewife. She soon gives birth to a daughter, Ranu. Ten years later, Anuradha's former beau, Deepak, re-enters her life. He witnesses that she is being neglected by her overly busy husband, and asks her to leave her husband and return back to singing.—rAjOo ([email protected])

This is Anuradha's (Leela Naidu) story. The daughter of a rich man, she has everything she desired, yet she goes on to marry Dr. Nirmal Chowdhary (Balraj Sahni), an idealistic doctor, who wants to serve the poor in the villages of India. Later when she is shown what she is missing by living with this poor doctor, she has to make the choice. The choice of her life or her love.
