Summaries

Anachasho documents a social movement started in 2011 by the Talia Kondha tribe deep in the jungles of rural India. Aimed at solving the community's lingering food problems arising from famines, crop failures and patchy distribution systems, the movement is structured around the ancient process of gathering uncultivated forest food from the wilderness. In the three years since the movement was incepted, the Talia Kondhas have built up an inventory of more than 250 types of uncultivated food that can be naturally sourced from the forest. A success story at the community level, the project has made the community completely self-reliant in terms of food sovereignty, and no villager visits a market out of basic need these days.
