In one of the philanthropic visits in a destitute (post partition) colony he fancies a girl Atasi Haldar (Suchitra) the eldest daughter of an erstwhile rich aristocrat Gagan haldar (Kanu) but now destitute refugee. He puts his lackey Mahip (Bankim) to buy the girl. Unable to completely convince the father, Mahip kidnaps her in Nripen's car while she was out (with her father) to get the medicine for her sick mother. In the struggle Mahip beats her up and she loses her memory. In that condition she is brought to Nripen. With his friend Dr Samanta (Bikash)'s help, Nripen starts her treatment, and on the way falls in love with her and even changes all his ways. When she gets back her memory, she hates him, more so due to her father's suicide and books a case of kidnap and illegal confinement, which is open and shut case, more so since he was unwilling to defend.
