All we know is that his journey starts in Boston. The movie is a car dash camera recording, which captures the unexpected events that occur throughout his journey. It demonstrates the progression of his frustrations that leads to recklessness in his driving. It seems that whatever he tries to do make things better and get there faster, things get worse and slow him down. In the end, he is almost there.
