Alice's Adventures in Wonderland was broadcast by BBC children's television on 1 January 1956. It was filmed at Alexandra Palace. John Glyn-Jones's script was a faithful adaptation of Lewis Carroll's classic story. Alice was played by 19 year old Lisa Barnett. Lisa was selected from 30 young hopefuls by producer Peter Newington.—B J Smith
