Clumsy peculiar pupil Alfons Zitterbacke dreams of being an astronaut and wreaks havoc anywhere he goes but against all odds wants to proof everyone who is teasing him wrong especially his father who wants him to be more of a 'normal' kid.

Nerdy schoolboy Alfons Zitterbacke has a dream, to become an astronaut, but feels not supported by his worried father, gray mouse Paul, and has few friends, except alas not too bright fellow outsiders Benni Diezler and Nico Klausner, also bullied by the popular knaves. Even staff pick on eager but accident-prone Alfons, especially the grumpy history teacher, who comes to hate him. He sets his hope on a young inventors competition, determined to enter a brilliant flying machine, helped by his buddies, and joined by odd classmate Emilia Held. That proves hard, as things go wrong and enemies strike, but he perseveres and gets to correct his rapport with father.—KGF Vissers
