Synopsis

Thanigaivelu was a sub inspector in J11police station. He was a nice guy but wasnot the exact personification of the perfectofficer. He never asked for bribes but neverrefused if offered. He believed punishmentwas a brutal consequence and that a personshould be punished only if the crime wasunpardonable.

Savitri was a gypsy tribal living with herhuge family. She had a 18 year old daughterChelli. One day when Chelli was returningafter selling beads at the beach, a group ofguys kidnap the girl. When Chelli doesn'treach home, Savitri panics and soon it isestablished that the girl is missing.

The entire gypsy family flock the stationand they are not treated well by theconstables who asks them dirty questions.Finally, Thanigaivelu gets a chance to meet

them and he listens to their plight and feelssorry for them. He does a basic inquiry buthe does not find the girl. He tells Savitri andher husband Dilli that when they getinformation about the girl he will definitelytell them.

Soon Savitri realizes that time is runningout and Thanigai also feels that Savitri isfollowing him everywhere. One day heconfronts her and tells her not to test hispatience. She says time is running out buthe tells her he can do nothing about it. Sheoffers him money and a little bit goldcollected from her tribe but he pays no heedto her. She goes to the extent of offeringherself to him and he rebukes her.

The next day she comes to the police stationand gives him a timepiece. She tells himtime is running out and he tells her againnothing can be done and this time she tellshim it is not Chelli's time but his own. Hehas only 24 hours to find the girl and everyhour he wastes, he will face an incident thatwill scar him emotionally. He realizes thatas time inches forward, he steps forwardstowards his own death. As she leaves helooks at the clock, which is tickingbackwards. He now realizes that the game isthat he must find Chelli before it's too late,for himself.
