Akbar has just lost his job when he meets a foreign tourist woman named Catherine and starts working as her guide. This proves to be troublesome since his wife and his former co-workers try to end his new relationship.
Akbar, a telephone operator for a commercial company, is fired for listening to the phone calls of the company's president. Eventually, he becomes a tourist guide to a French reporter named Catherine, who has come to Isfahan to write a book on Iranian customs. Akbar's wife, who is worried about her husband's absences, pursues him and finds out. Things get worse when he brings Catherine to live with him and his wife at his sister's house.
