Jorge plans to sell the family plantation so that he and his wife, Aida can leave the country. Story centers on events which take place during the two days and a night of negotiations for the sale with two visiting men.

A prospective buyer visits a plantation with his mistress, his lawyer and his son. Crescencio, a black dwarf who never speaks, contrast with the privileged people whose stilted opinions and judgments reflect the conventional manners of Venezuelan high society. Crescencio becomes the haunting mirror of their personal truths. His behavior provokes a crisis in the others to the point that they become dramatically aware of how the values of their class underlie and determine their relationships.
