Rüdiger Nehberg (1935-2020) was a German survival expert and human rights activist. He later used the deprived expeditions he initially undertook out of a thirst for adventure to draw attention to social problems. His life's work includes his commitment to the South American people of the Yanomami and his fight against female genital mutilation.—SWR
