A photographer has nothing going for him, until he inherits a camera that has the ability to predict the future. In the process, he gains dangerous enemies who wants his camera for illicit goals.
Mumbai-based struggling wildlife photographer, Ray Acharya, is informed that his maternal grandfather has passed away, and left some mementos for him. He picks them up, finds out they include an old camera which has the uncanny ability to photograph the future. He uses it to amass wealth at the lotteries and races; and woos struggling singer, Simi Chatterjee, but finds that he has to face enemies who want the camera by hook or by crook. The first one is a ruthless assassin simply known as Captain; the other is Special Officer Puri. The films starts with a man running through the woods holding a camera, he runs to a clearing and is surrounded by several armed men.
In the present, the man Ray Acharya (Neil Nitin Mukesh), a struggling photographer, has nothing going for him. Although he has his own place, he is known for struggling financially as even the neighborhood children make fun of his lack of wealth. One day, he decides to look through his grandfather's belongings and discovers a key for a safety deposit box. He goes to a bank and unlocks his grandfather's deposit box, he finds a bag with a camera inside that he takes home to look at later. At home, he examines the camera and notices that it has a strange knob with two layers, the inner layer has the twelve months on it (Jan, Feb, Mar, etc), and the outer layer has the numbers 1-31 etched on it. Thinking it is nothing special, he sets the dial for tomorrow's date and takes several photos of a pigeon that he sees every morning on his window sill and of the neighborhood children below his window.
The next day, he sees the pigeon with another one together on his window sill, he checks the photos he took yesterday and developed overnight. He is shocked and surprised to see that the photos are completely different from what he took, as it shows the two pigeons he saw earlier instead of the one he took yesterday. It also shows the children doing different things in the photos and as well as getting in trouble for breaking a man's windshield on his car after they were playing cricket near it. Curious about the camera, he decides to take more photos with the camera, he takes photos of several people: a couple, a mother and her child, some teens, and of his love interest Simi who lives in the apartment complex next to his.
The next day, after he had developed the photos he took, to his surprise the photos show the people doing completely different things. However, two of the photos show something unsettling and horrifying, the first photo is of the mother and child showing them plummeting off a Ferris wheel and the second photo shows Simi being held at gunpoint at a club of some sort. Ray terrified decides to try and stop the photos from coming true, he first attempts to help the mother and her child, however he is unable to stop them from getting on the Ferris wheel and watches in horror as they fall out of the Ferris wheel due to their safety bar malfunctioning. Realizing that the photos are of the future, Ray quickly hurries to save Simi and manages to stop the gunman and save her life. Afterwards, he meets with Simi after she leaves the club and thanks him for his help.
The next day, Ray and Simi talk to each other, with Simi revealing that Ray has been hailed a hero for saving her life as shown on their newspaper. Ray seeing this as an opportunity decides to try to win the local lottery by taking a photo of the lottery results and sets the date for the next day, to reveal the winning numbers. The next day after buying a ticket, he and some other people wait for the cashier to write down the winning numbers. Ray accidentally blurts out the last number and although he wins, the cashier only gives him part of the jackpot as he suspects Ray of cheating. However, over the next few days, Ray repeatedly uses the camera to win over and over again, getting more money each time. He eventually makes enough to trade in his Moped for a motorcycle, which he uses to take Simi out on rides and starts a relationship with her. Ray then starts using the camera to win bets for horse races and even to manipulate the stock market, eventually becoming a millionaire.
However, his relationship with Simi becomes strained as even though he was still seeing her, he was more focused on getting more money than with her. Eventually, he comes to realize his flaws and takes Simi out on a romantic date rekindling their relationship. One day, after developing a new photo, he is terrified to see that the newest photo is completely blackened, causing him to fear his own demise. Ray fearing for himself and Simi, reveals to her how he had used his grandfather's camera to attain his wealth and what it is capable of. He also tells her how the newest photos were all black and fears that means they will die as their future is literally unknown and uncertain. Simi however says that if he wants to be certain of this, then they should take photos of him and see what happens. Ray agrees and Simi takes several photos in succession, after being developed they see the photos showing the two of them leaving Mumbai on an airplane and heading to Bangkok. They decide to do so and elope to Bangkok, hoping they can lay low for the time being.
However, Captain (Rahul Dev) finds out and chases Ray to get the camera for himself. Security authorities also chase Ray as they are aware that Ray's grandfather was trying to create a camera that can predict the future. Ray makes a deal with Captain that in exchange for their protection he will show them their photos to help them avoid any trouble. However, the newest photo shows Simi being captured by the authorities, and race to save her. Working together they manage to save her, however Captain demands the camera in exchange for sparing them. Holding each other at gunpoint, Ray suddenly fires his gun and in response Captain guns him down, causing him to fall into a well apparently dead. Simi in tears reveals that the last photo they took with the camera showed Captain being double crossed by one of his men and Ray had fired his gun and gunned him down to save his life. Captain shocked and horrified by his mistake leaves Simi alone, who breaks down mourning Ray's apparent death.
However, Ray climbs out of the well having survived the gunshots and embraces Simi, both relieved that the whole ordeal is finally over. As the camera had been damaged beyond repair and is pretty much useless as the only one who could repair was his grandfather. The final scene shows Ray and Simi on a plane flying back to Mumbai, while Simi is asleep Ray finds a pocket watch in his grandfather's bag and opens it up. Curious, he turns the minute hand and is shown traveling through space and time from one place to another. Ray sees himself about to be run over by a truck and suddenly flashes back to the plane, and is left horrified by what he just saw, uncertain about what to do as he has found another way to manipulate time once more.
