Jeff Alt takes you on an entertaining Appalachian Trail Adventure with personal narration, music, and slides based on stories from his critically acclaimed book.
Jeff Alt takes you along every step of his 2,160-mile Appalachian Trail adventure with music, slides, and personal narration filled with humorous, frightening, and inspirational stories including: bears, bugs, blisters, interesting characters, skunk bedmates, mice, and hilarious food cravings; all for a noble cause. Alt walked 5 million steps over rugged mountainous terrain, through freezing temperatures, driving rain, and sunny skies buoyed by the knowledge that his walk was dedicated to his brother who has cerebral palsy. Alt lived in the woods for 147 days, inspiring an annual fundraiser which has raised over $180,000 for the Sunshine Home, where his brother lives. This documentary is based on Alt's award-winning book. Alt's narration is told in an unscripted and polished story telling format which is deeply rooted in the tradition of the Appalachian Culture. A Walk For Sunshine is pleasantly accented with Appalachian Folk Hymns throughout the film performed on a hammered dulcimer, an instrument steeped in Appalachian tradition. A Walk For Sunshine captures the trail experience with stunning original Appalachian Trail photography.—Jeff Alt
