A doctor in a Western town once stood trial for the murder of his wife. Despite acquittal, he is still believed guilty by the townspeople.
In the 1860s, just after the Civil War, Luis moves with his family from Mexico to Val Verde, Texas. There he befriends Jody, the local Sheriff's son, and they embark on a number of mischievous jaunts with other friends from school. The group befriends Doc Whitaker, a stranger who recently returned from the war where he served as a doctor. Doc was accused of killing his wife before the war, and although he was acquitted, the townspeople continue to believe he was guilty of the crime. When a person from town goes missing, Doc Whitaker is accused and jailed. The boys attempt a daring jailbreak, and in the end the truth about Doc and the missing person comes out.—Luis and Jody
