Sometimes your mistake can evolve into a positive end. Kelly Dougherty enlisted in the National Guard, but it did not turn out in the way she had envisioned. Her goal of becoming a medic ended up with a tour in Iraq as military police. Her service in Iraq reinforced her feelings about the war and after her return home she became a full-time advocate for the rights of servicemen and women, along with veterans suffering from trauma and health problems.—Anonymous
