When she tries to save Tony from a similar blackmail situation, but fails, he is disillusioned by her trickery and hurriedly marries Joan Porter. Laura leaves Humphrey and goes to Paris for a divorce. There she becomes a cafe singer and again meets Tony and Joan with Pedro, a gigolo with whom Joan is wildly infatuated. Realizing that Tony is seeking a divorce from Joan, Laura finds happiness with him.
