Magic abounds: Hunter and Jesamine unleash havoc on a towns bully with the help of a sorcerer's diary, and a mischievous monkey apprentice Fred.
Moving into a new neighborhood isn't always easy for any fourteen-year-old, especially for Hunter. While he struggles to adapt to the new neighborhood, he discovers an old diary from 1874 in the attic. It belonged to a magician, Henry Edgecomb, and his monkey assistant, Fred, who traveled the Old West bringing a traveling magic show to every pioneer town. During their biggest adventure, they meet Jazmine, who had broken her engagement with Mr. Deadwyler who is a mean and low down bully of a cowboy, who aims to get her back. Caught in the middle, Henry and Fred come face to face with Deadwyler, and Henry is challenged to a duel. Meanwhile in 2018, Hunter meets Jesamine, a fourteen-year-old neighborhood girl. Hunter and Jesamine are caught in similar events, when Dallard the neighborhood bully, intimidates Hunter and Jesamine. Hunter uses magic he learned from Fred and the diary throughout Alen Town to try to deflate Dallard, but it doesn't stop there. Hunter fights back with more magic and finds himself in a similar duel like the past at the school's talent show.
