In order to save her daytime soap drama from cancellation, head writer Maggie must convince Darin (her real-life ex-boyfriend) to return to the show.

Maggie Coleman is the head writer for a daytime soap drama. The show's producer is about to retire, and Maggie is set to take over that job. Unfortunately, the show's ratings have been down for the past year, ever since fan favorite actor Darin Mitchell left to do a play. Maggie and Darin had been dating, and he broke up with her at the same time he abandoned the show. Darin's play ended up failing, and afterwards, he took a break from acting. To save the soap from being canceled, Maggie tries to convince Darin to return. He resists at first but eventually agrees to go back for a few weeks. Maggie and Darin are both under a lot of pressure. Maggie has new responsibilities as she transitions into her role as a producer. Darin has not acted in a while and suffers from low self-confidence. As they work together, Maggie and Darin get closer again. They help each other with their problems, and their old romantic feelings return. However, Darin has still not made a long-term commitment to the soap. If he leaves again, it would jeopardize the show's success, as well as any chance that he and Maggie have for a relationship.—Patrick Lin
