Synopsis

2017, In a sleepy suburb of Miami, Gaurav (Sidharth Malhotra) dreams of settling down with Kavya (Jacqueline Fernandez), the woman of his dreams, but she prefers a man who's more adventurous and willing to take risks.Gaurav tries to ask Kavya on a date and also meets her parents, who consider Gaurav as a potential groom for Kavya. Meanwhile, Gaurav is ordered by his boss to visit Mumbai to close a business deal. However, it appears that Gaurav may have something to do with Rishi Purohit, who looks exactly like Gaurav. It is finally revealed that Gaurav is actually Rishi.

2012, Rishi is a rogue assassin who works for Unit X, a clandestine spy organization headed by Colonel Vijay Saxena (Suniel Shetty).

Vijay Saxena runs his own missions, contrary to the explicit orders of his superior officers. When his superiors try to shut him down, he gets them eliminated. Later, it is also revealed, that some of Vijay's missions are privately funded and have nothing to do with national security.It is also revealed that Rishi kind of suspects Vijay's motives and knows that something is not right. he announces his intention to retire to Vijay, despite his objections.

Ramachandra Rao (Sijoy Varghese) from CBI approaches Rishi and informs him that Vijay has gone rogue. He asks for Rishi's help to bring Vijay down, but Rishi refuses.Rishi and his team attempt to extract intelligence from the Chinese Embassy in Bangkok. While escaping, Yakub (Darshan Kumaar), a teammate, shoots down an innocent civilian, which enrages Rishi. Rishi returns to Mumbai, where he talks to Vijay Saxena about retiring from the world of espionage. Vijay Saxena asks him to perform one last job for him and this involves spying on Mishra, the Defense Secretary of India, whom Vijay Saxena claims Mishra to be a corrupt and ruthless and fraudulent and lousy man. Vijay Saxena wants to copy data from Mishra's cellphone into a hard drive.

Rishi manages to save information to the hard drive and later meets Gaurav, a database manager working in a weapon manufacturing company Norcorp, in Miami. Gaurav and Rishi retrieves the important data about Mishra's connections. Gaurav is later shot to immediate death by Yakub in order to eliminate evidence. Vijay Saxena, having decided that he cannot let Rishi loose, instructs Yakub through a text message to kill him. Rishi senses the suspicion and fights off Yakub and the other agents. Yakub manages to shoot Rishi, but Rishi manages to escape, eventually adopts Gaurav's identity and goes to Miami for a peaceful life.

Vijay's superiors ask Rishi to leave India asap as they suspect now Vijay will use all his power to eliminate Rishi. Its been five years since that time. It is then revealed that Rishi in fact took on the identity of Gaurav to escape India, and to mend his way of living to lead a normal life.

2017, An official assignment takes Gaurav to Mumbai where he is mistaken for the identity of Rishi. Soon, trouble follows him to Miami where the agents of Unit X come hunting for him. Vijay contacts his Miami mole Jignesh (Amit Mystry) to help him hunt for Rishi.One of the agents Koko (Shaheed Woods) (who works for Jignesh) is killed by Rishi inside his house just when Kavya's parents Sameer (Rajit Kapur) and Ramika (Supriya Pilgaonkar) come around to visit him. Kavya's dad thinks Rishi is gay.

Now Rishi's ex colleague Yakub arrives in Miami & accompanies Jignesh to meet Rishi at his house. Yakub asks Rishi to hand over the intel from his last mission over. Kavya comes over to Rishi's house & Yakub kidnaps them both.

Rishi/Gaurav helps Kavya escape and Kavya realizes that Gaurav is not a bore but is a highly trained assassin. Yakub again attacks Rishi/Gaurav at his hideout. Rishi tells Yakub that the intel from the last mission was destroyed in the shootout.

Rishi is knocked down unconscious and soon finds himself handcuffed with Kavya, who had stopped by his house. Rishi uses his skills to escape with Kavya from the trouble and ends up confessing to her about his past profession. Kavya berates Rishi, but later forgives him.

Later that night, Yakub and his team finds Rishi and Kavya at the motel they are hiding in. Rishi reveals to Yakub that the data actually contains Norcorp's illegal financial transactions with Indian politicians and also had information about Vijay Saxena's unlawful activities. Gaurav had learned about this and hatched a deal with Mishra to sell the data in exchange for money.

Yakub tells Rishi to extract the data on Norcorp servers and give it to him, in exchange for leaving him and Kavya. Rishi manages to extract the data, but the security guards notices and begin chasing Rishi. Yakub aborts the operation and abandons him. However, Rishi manages to escape with Kavya's help. Yakub and his team meets Rishi at his house, where Rishi kills most of Yakub's henchmen with the help of Kavya. However, Rishi spares Yakub and two of his thugs and orders him to leave his house.

Driving away in Rishi's car, Yakub realizes that the hard drive Rishi gave is blank and the car's trunk contains Koko's corpse. Working with Rishi, Dixit crashes into their car in a side collision, where the police arrive on the scene and discover the body. Yakub and the agents are killed by the cops. Vijay Saxena visits Rishi's house to confront him, but dies in an bomb blast planned by Rishi. Rishi provides the data to the NSC and Unit X gets neutralized. Rishi and Kavya soon leave Miami with new identities of Hemanth Khanna and Pooja Khanna.

In the mid-credits scene, Dixit buys machine guns from a local gun store in Miami, before putting on a hoodie and walking away.
