Diagnosed with ALS a decade a go, Dabiz travels around Eastern Europe in a van to encourage others (different and alike) never to give up.

David Riaño, an environmental scientists at CSIC diagnosed with ALS (a neurodegenerative neuromuscular disease that results in the progressive loss of motor neurons that control voluntary muscles), decides to pursue his dream of traveling Eastern Europe to dive in its lakes. Adapting a van to sleep, eat and shelter in it, and with the help of Senegalese taxi driver Serigne Mbake and "tuno" Rubén Fuentes, David will search for meaning for his suffering doing what he likes most: traveling and floating in water.—Víctor Escribano

Smart, cheeky and ready for a challenge, Dabiz Riaño is a successful and happily married Fulbright Scholar whose sudden loss of dexterity in his right hand led to a diagnosis of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, the degenerative condition that attacks the central nervous system and for which there is no known cure. Now a wheelchair user, yet not one to be slowed, Riaño sets out for his grandest adventure yet: spending six months traversing Eastern Europe and swimming in its most scenic lakes. Armed with a miniature GoPro camera, a tricked-out van and the help of two lively assistants, the scientist fulfills his dream of experiencing firsthand the beauty of the natural world in this touching and life-affirming road documentary.—Palm Springs International Film Festival
