For 49 days, four young soldiers drifted on a barge that was blown out to sea by a storm. Only by the end of the seventh week they were discovered by American pilots.

This movie is based on the true story of 4 Russian sailors adrift at sea, near the Kurile Islands. The USS Kearsarge aircraft carrier, going from Japan to the US, rescued them, after 49 days at sea. The Russian sailors were on a coastal barge, which drifted away in a storm. They were given up for dead. However, the American ship saw them and set a helicopter, and the Russians were taken on board.—John P.
