An experimental film on navigating the social landscape of our modern society.
The production is an experimental film on navigating the social landscape of our modern society. After the opening title, lights start to pass the screen as if being viewed out the window of a subway train in relative darkness. The images are blurred with speed. Finally, the train slows and pulls into a brightly lighted station. First a few and then many people are seen from the window of the train and line the side of the station. A map is pictured which features a ball, a toy panda and a tower. Feet in comfortable shoes begin to walk the streets of the city across grates in the sidewalk. Overhangs from a building entry and pedestrians heading in both directions are encountered on the walk. A map seems to track the progress of the walker. The screen bursts into a display of crystals and liquid blobs in motion. Ahh. A church organ chimes out the moment. Photos of a scene of a building with a nearby playground flash across the screen. This evolves into a cascade of many familiar buttons and icons from social media. The walk continues in the background of street scenes and social media until the feet are seen descending a dark staircase. The yellow sneakers are finally at rest in the darkness, perhaps awaiting the next train. One ankle flexes repeatedly in anticipation. 4*
