All Hell Is Breaking Loose!

Opener was a worthless "enhancement" match that saw Ahmed get way too much offence on Banks; yes, he's bigger in stature - but Banks is the pushed star that was a finalist in last years tournament to see who would face the current champion, he shouldn't be selling this much against a debuting talent that is clearly not a big deal [*]. Aichner and Barthel work well together and already have a double-team finisher. This was mostly about establishing them as a team more than anything else. Solid and enjoyable [**3/4]. The women's match was a fun little outing but did little for either lady. Jinny's mean, Candy's not; we knew that going in. Still, enjoyable [**]. The main event was really good. Foot down, right out of the gate until Gallus stopped Seven long enough to work up some heat on him and then the hot tag exploded the venue and Bate went to work being Tyler Bate and b i g s t r o n g b o i ing it up all over the place. Joe Coffey's arrival spoiled things a little given that had he done what he looked like he was intending to do, he'd have cost his stablemates the match, but it opened the door to Dunne's arrival and the furthering of that feud so it is what it is [***1/4]. All in all, an enjoyable show with solid action and forward momentum towards the upcoming TakeOver special.

A Sign of Things to Come?

This is really a show about the opening match and the final segment. Everything in the middle did what it needed to but if you're already familiar with Wildboar and you either don't care or can see where they're going with the Dennis/Mastiff feud, then you really don't need to see either of those matches. I do want to mention however that the addition of Sid Scala as Johnny Saint's assistant is, for me, a raging success. Saint isn't great at cutting these long and winding WWE style promo's and is better utilised as the British legend that the locker room falls in step behind, as such brevity is his friend. Meanwhile, Scala is very good on the mic and seems to be growing into his new role well. They have a very good dynamic. The opener was a banger of a match, that (with a little more time) could be considered great. As it was it's simply really bloody good and while I understand why you'd want to end the show with the Dunne/Coffey contract signing, this really should've been the "main event" over that [***1/2]. Hitchman/Morrell was a solid enhancement match putting over Wildboar [**] and Dennis/Mastiff was more of an angle than a match [**]. The contract signing really got me hyped for TakeOver: Blackpool. Maybe it's because I'll be there in person but since they annouced that event on this show it's felt like NXT:UK has really found its footing and has something to aim for and Coffey (in particular) is rising to the challenge of being Dunne's first real feud on the brand. Dunne, of course, is always excellent and knows exactly who he is. It's a contract signing so, y'know, a table dies - but it's all for a good cause. Good episode.

In Mod We Trust

Amir and Kenny finally get their first win, not just as a tag team but each of their first wins overall in NXT UK. It was a decent enhancement match with a good finishing sequence. Isla vs. Xia was very much a technical match which saw Isla come out on top, and for the most part it was smooth. Devlin vs. Weir was only an enhancement match and served to help set up Devlin vs. Banks at TakeOver. The main event was pretty good for going under 10 minutes, and the right team won so that we'll have a clear face vs. heel tag team title match at TakeOver (***1/4). Overall it was an average episode of NXT UK. Ligero vs. Conners was good for the short amount of time it was given. I expected it to go longer after being built up for a few episodes, so that was a bit of a disappointment. Banks vs. Tyson was just to set up Banks vs. Devlin at TakeOver, but there's not much to speak of with the match itself. The first two matches aren't much to talk about, especially the women's match, but neither were bad. The main event was a great showing from all four guys with the heels coming out on top and remaining undefeated as a tag team. I can only imagine the kind of match they could have been able to have with more time, since this match only went slightly less than 10 minutes (***1/2). This episode did well to further Nina Samuels as a contender in the women's division, re-establish Eddie Dennis as a force to be reckoned with, continue the Devlin vs. Banks storyline, and continue building up to the eventual Pete Dunne vs. WALTER title match. I liked the decision to have the main event end in a decisive draw rather than have only one person be counted out or have the match end in a No Contest, and the match itself was solid (***). Toni Time

NXT UK produced another solid show this week. The opening match was good, although it had a pretty predictable outcome. Seven vs. Thorne was a longer and more competitive match than I thought it would be. The main event was the second Storm vs. Ripley match in a row that I thought was not as good as it could/should have been. It was still good, but just didn't seem too special. Technical Master Class

This episode was average, not all that good but not bad either. Bate vs. Gallagher was a 100% technical match that included nothing except chain wrestling and submissions. If you're a fan of that type of match, you probably loved this match. WALTER vs. Ohno was a pretty good hoss fight. The main event was okay, but not great. Falls Count Anywhere

The main event was definitely the highlight of this episode. It was a really good long match that served to effectively end the Devlin-Banks feud (***1/2). The opening match was also pretty good, and while the two mid-card matches weren't bad, they're also not much to talk about and mainly served to help establish the winners. Throwing Caution to the Wind

The three undercard matches were all okay, but nothing special. The main event was really good, bordering on great, and really helped set up the upcoming Dunne vs. WALTER title match at TakeOver. WALTER's very presence just reeks of an absolute superstar, and he's exceptional at everything he does in the ring. Post-match, he told a whole story just by looking at Dunne. Returning from Exile

"I thought this was a pretty good show. Although I still don't get the Eddie Dennis hype, him vs. Ligero was a solid opener. The Hunt's debut as a tag team was good, and those two are a natural combination for a tag team; they definitely need a new finisher though. Ohno's debut as a full-time member of the UK roster was a solid match. The main event was a really good - borderline great - match, and Drake got to show more than he ever has before in any of his singles matches (***3/4). A Date with Destiny

This was a pretty good episode. The first two matches, although mainly purposed just to further establish the victors, were both better than undercard matches on this show usually are, especially the woman's match. Andrews vs. Dar was on its way to being really good until Dar's unfortunate injury caused it to be stopped. The contract signing was done well, including having WALTER speak for the first time. WWE NXT TakeOver: New York Aftermath

Normally a bad TV Show, but it's good at NXT UK standarts I guess - Ohno vs Banks was ok, I don't think it's matchguide worthy. Rubik's Cube that used by Ohno was insane, but match didn't have any high points besides that. I hope he will keep using this move regularly though - [***] Next 2 matches didn't have any interesting aspects. Maint event for UK Women's Championship was bad. At least this is what I thought. Jinny was uninteresting as hell. She needs to come up with a different gimmick, or needs to improve her character work. Her heel work and acting during the match was very cringy. All matches and promos were decent or almost decent except main event that was good. something is missing at this show still , of beginning till now i didn't enjoy enough of this show. Welcome to Our Kingdom!

Great Show . The opening tag was really OK, Moustache Mountain is, as usual, a good freaking team and they are great to sell us new teams, just an example of their opponents, the Hunt, which are talented. The singles match was also fine, a big POP for Gallus as expected. The M. E NXT Tag Titles was AWESOME, this RULED. I'm so a fan of GYV, great hatable team but on the other hab-nd so talented and great pairing.
