With a Silver Spoon

A young girl begins to suspect her single mother around men. This causes a distress in all her relationships, including the one with her fiance. But, she is horrified when she learns some truths.

While Bertil Lindström works at the Swedish embassy in Paris, his wife Gabrielle spends the summer alone in Sweden. After a phone call to her, he starts to think of all the things she can possibly be doing separated from him.

On a train, two young individuals meet each other and decide to wed. Nevertheless, they must first overcome some obstacles and cope with the woman's devious father.

Follows three generations of the Mayne family through the year 1921-22. The 81-year-old patriarch reminisces about his rough beginnings in post-Civil War railroading, son Rufus rides rough waters as a wealthy financier, and his wife and three daughters muddle through their New York high society life.
