Summary Simon is a student of political science in Washington, DC that has grown totally disillusioned with the way the world works. This leads to him feeling helpless and hopeless, but he is content to party away his time and energy. Things begin to change when he meets Emma, a radical anarchist who encourages more direct (and controversial) actions to try to change the world. Simon and Emma begin to fall hard for each other, until Simon finds evidence that suggests Emma may be hiding important things from him, and their relationship begins to fall apart.
