In the 1780s, two young Swiss came to Stockholm. Jeremias Schann and Jacob Cleopath were pastry chefs of the Swiss school and introduced the modern patisserie service in the Nordics. In Sweden, there was no café culture and the two Swiss were initially opposed. It wasn't until the 1830s that cafés really took off in Stockholm.
