Night City Terrors
In 2045, the world is in upheaval. Climate migrants, collapsing economies, and revolution. America was not immune. The worlds' Climate Crisis has turned extreme. Some cities are swallowed by rising sea levels, drought turned the midwest back into a dust bowl, rampant disease flooded the populated cities, and bad economic decisions have collapsed the economy, leading to starvation and revolt that killed millions... and that was before the 4th corporate war killed millions more. Most of America's survivors have crowded into a few cities. Millions of Americans living in the ruins of the old world and the megabuildings and arcologies of the new one. The super-rich and even a middle class still exists but beyond their sheltered communities and under their premium skyscrapers, 75% of the surviving American population lives below the poverty line, leading to skyrocketing crime, gang problems, and urban decay. A blight so severe all American cities have their "Combat Zones" in which the rule of law has abandoned and the law of the jungle reigns supreme. Night City is one such city. Night City of 2045 is a mega-world. The Megacorporations who rule Night City in all but name, and the Megarich who rule the Megacorporations. For them and the middle-class, that rapidly dwindling group of people who haven't been replaced by automation yet, the fruits of unbridled technological development -- mega-tech -- beckons: Youthful immortality, transhuman perfection, all run by an apathetic corporate greed that can satiate hungers both subtle and gross. A sea of consumer goods moves from megacorporations out to mollify the megapopulations, squeezing wealth from those who seem like they have none and keeping unrest to a simmer.
