In 1880s Patagonia, Argentina, Colonel Garay is put in charge of securing the new railroad that will help the European colonization effort. The local tribes rebel and plan an attack. Garay's misfit wife tutors a captured tribeswoman.

Yoshito Sato grew up with his mother Yasue after his father passed away. His mother ran a yakiniku (grilled meat) restaurant that his father had left behind. Yoshito enjoyed eating his mother's cooking and their restaurant was loved by many people. Things changed after popular food critic Tatsuya Furuyama published false statements about their yakiniku restaurant. Due to that, their restaurant saw a sharp drop in customers. Yasue worked hard to recover business for the restaurant. Due to Yoshito's behavior in wanting attention from his mom, Yasue decided to shut down the restaurant. Eighteen years later, Yoshito lives alone and he works as a freelance writer. One day, he takes work for a new online foodie website. He works with editor Shizuka Takenaka. Their first assignment involves yakiniku. Around that time, Yoshito hears that his estranged mother Yasue has collapsed.

Cabascabo, a veteran of the French colonial army in Indochina, returns to his home town in Niger, acclaimed by friends and relatives. In fragmented flash-backs, he tells the story of his adventure and the battles in that distant land.

Hugo works in a glass industry, and loves his wife Gina passionately. She, on the other hand, shows complete indifference to her husband, and Hugo becomes obsessed with the idea that his wife hates him. He has horrible nightmares, during which he sees himself killing Gina. Each dream always ends with a ruthless police officer interrogating him. Hugo begins to blur dream and reality after he is approached by the same police officer from the dream, who comes to ask if his house hasn't been burglarized. He becomes increasingly involved in a vortex that leads him to poison Gina, committing an almost perfect crime.

Dr. Sagar is a London-based psychiatrist who works in a hospital. He is strongly opposed to shock therapy as a treatment for mentally ill patients, which is a source of conflict with his colleagues. One day he accidentally saves a girl who is being attacked by a group of men, and takes her home. The girl, Dhara, is behaving extremely childishly, and Sagar quickly finds out that she is mentally disturbed, but not retarded. He decides to keep her out of the hospital, and to take care of her at his own place. As a result of Dr. Sagar's careful treatment and a lot of domestic warmth, Dhara's condition gradually improves. Simultaneously, they slowly fall in love with each other, and Sagar even plans marrying her. When Sagan has to leave for India for a while, he friend Sahil comes to visit him, and decided to stay in his home until he returns. There he stumbles upon Dhara, almost healthy now, and the two fall in love quickly. When Sagar returns from India, he catches them in the act. Sagar, completely broken by this incident, loses his mind himself. Now it is Dhara's turn to take care of Sagar. However, once she succeeds, he loses it herself again.

After serving their sentence, three prisoners, a doctor, a civil servant and a thief, leave jail. During the train trip they do together to return home, they analyze their respective lives. The doctor has been required to perform an operation on a child abandoned by his father, a millionaire.
