During the War of the Triple Alliance (1864-1870), a coalition composed of Argentina, the Empire of Brazil, and Uruguay, clashed militarily with Paraguay, which suffered the death of 95% of its male population. Yatay is the story of a man and a woman, separated by war and forced to face each other. Yatay -a scenario where one of the bloodiest battles of this war was fought- is a palindrome word, it can be read in the same way from right to left than from left to right. The film maintains that structure throughout the whole narration.
