The Trigger

Film about the writer Manuel Puig and the years he spent in Río de Janeiro.

In this satirical drama, a group of actors come together for an Independence Day skit where they play legendary characters of the Indian nationalist heroes such as Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhash Chandra Bose and Lokmanya Tilak. However, things go awry when the actors realise that the play is sponsored by an underworld don.

What divides us and what keeps us together? Maybe, both questions have the same answer. The body revealing itself to the mind. The mind to the space. The space, a place without walls which its inhabitants can't get out of. Confinement in a place that seems open. People like the objects of a place. A place as a body they can't get out of. The body, a group of membranes, the tissue that contains us. The fear that this tissue might not contain us anymore. A giant's skeleton appears.

Claudia is a young actress. Finally she has been casted for her first leading role in a film based upon a true story: The Schiele-Murderer. While preparing for the role, she meets Sylvia, the real wife of the serial killer who has murdered five young women and draped their corpses to look like paintings by Egon Schiele. Since the murderer has been arrested, his wife now lives in a sanatorium with her little, still traumatized daughter. The fictional script of the film within the film, Sylvia's reports and Claudia's fantasies cause a new chronology of the story - lies create more than one truth.

"Utburd" is the myth about the children abandoned in the woods to die. Adrian is trying to depict this tale of old in his second novel, but he is suffering from total writer's block. He joins childhood friend Kristine and three other companions on a cabin outing to get away from the writing. But when they get to the woods, he tells of the legend. Suddenly the group isn't so sure anymore: is "Utburd" really just an old ghost story?
