The Tree with Matchmaking Powers

A high-school football player is in love with a beautiful blonde classmate from a very wealthy family. He doesn't have the money to take her out, so in his desperation he robs his own father's grocery store. Things go downhill from there.

Charles Vanel and Annabella star respectively as a daring WW I aviator and his loving but neglected wife. Ostracized by the other pilots because of his recklessness and standoffishness, Vanel nonetheless befriends a young pilot who is in love with Vanel's wife.

A fight breaks out between two guys at youth house-party and one beats the other to death. The next morning killer refuses to acknowledge any responsibility, leaving the others to decide what to do next.
