The Subway Son

Y. Tries to come to terms with the death of her husband John. Daniel Mohn, the visionary founder of Monosoft, reminds her that the Cold War wasn't won by missiles, but by artists like herself and her late husband.

Elderly people, Stepanida and her husband Petrok, live in the village of Vyselki when the German occupiers come there. The attempt to somehow get along with strangers ends tragically. The plot of the film reveals the dramatic past of the heroes, when during the years of collectivization they were considered enemies of the Soviet government. At the same time, the film tells about the horrors that the Nazi government brings.

The young man, originally a Jew, is deeply burdened by the consequences of war, in which he had lost his loved ones. He is considering himself mandatory to take revenge to former commander of the concentration camp where his family was killed, and who returns from prison after serving the minimum sentence. Coincidentally, planned revenge takes a different turn.

At the outbreak of the First World War, a mother and one of her two daughters are captured and debased at the hands of the Germans. The other daughter goes from America to find them in war torn Belgium.

In WW1, Captain Stanhope is the commander of a British company fighting against the Germans. The young Lieutenant Raleigh admires the older man who he knows from the prewar days. While Stanhope tries to keep up the image of an exemplary soldier, in fact he is thoroughly disillusioned and fights his despair with alcohol, all the while waiting for the signal to start the foray against the Germans. When it comes, it leads to disaster.
