The Steadfast Heart

Plagued by the vicissitudes of his agitated life style, Léo vainly tries to find a shelter by becoming intoxicated with electronic music, alcohol and drug. When a work colleague talks to him about a meditation training effective in putting an end to the root of all sorrow, it sounds to him like a great revelation. Without waiting, he decides to renounce to everything, including his girl friend, and to depart to Myanmar, in search of an isolated spot suitable for a contemplative life style. Apart from the difficulties linked with acclimatization, the lack of comfort and Asian customs, his three worst enemies will do everything to lead him astray from the right path: ignorance, aversion and desire...

Bradley, an engineer, becomes a Tahiti beachcomber after the collapse of a bridge he built. Murdock, a former employer of Bradley, arrives on the island with his lovely daughter Diana, who wagers with a guest of the governor-general that she could dress the lowest outcast in good clothing and pass him off as a gentleman. She chooses Bradley, who finds out about the hoax and, determined to teach her a lesson, takes her to Leper Island where she is treated like an outcast. Murdock recognizes Bradley and offers him a chance to redeem himself by overseeing the repairs made on a lighthouse. Diana, having now understood Bradley, remains on Tahiti with him.

With the help of a recovering drug-addict, Pete, the wise-old housemother, Irene, and Juliet's suicidal younger sister, Jenna, Juliet struggles to cure her cutting tendencies while battling her mother's secret history.
