Summary A wealthy young American in China falls in love with a young Chinese woman who is subsequently sold into servitude and transported to America. The young man follows her to America and seeks the aid of a Chinese secret society in finding his sweetheart. A prominent American tries to arrange a marriage between his daughter and the young man, though he knows that each is in love with another. When the young man discovers the whereabouts of his sweetheart, he seeks the help of the prominent man, who betrays him by trying to have the Chinese girl deported. Before the plan can be executed, however, the young man learns that the prominent man is the Chinese girl's father and that he had delivered her to her captor.
