Summary Joe Roberts is devoted to his wife, Mary, and fiercely loyal to United States Senate candidate John Steele, by whom he is employed as secretary. Mary does not share her husband's enthusiasm for Steele and believes Joe false to her when actress Lily Elliott dies in an apartment rented in Joe's name.
