The Regulators

Summary The Regulators are a secret society of African American men that was formed in the northern states during the early 1800s after the North abolished slavery. The new Freedmen found themselves in a world where they were seen as different from the rest of society and so they formed their own secret group to help themselves function as a community. The reason for staying secret was because they feared what the reaction of White America would be to their then existence. The Regulators of the 21st Century are different from their earlier counterparts. While they are still community focused, many younger people have embraced the American dream and have found opportunities and lives away from their family traditions. The men who become formal members of the organization are a mix between community leaders and gangsters. While they are involved in church and charity, none are activists because they prefer a low profile. While they participate in crime, they justify it to themselves as being ok because the proceeds help their community while the victims are all outsiders. While they have flown under the radar for over 200 years, today's Regulators are popping up on the radars of law enforcement and other criminal organizations because they have taken advantage of the legal cannabis market and now operate a large scale operation . The quality is top notch and they use the dark web to distribute their products. This has made them a lot of money (some is used for community scholarships but the high quality of their work means that the feds want to shut them down while the Mafia wants to take them over.
