On the sidelines of an evening football game in the "Alte Försterei", a young man dies from a knife wound in the arms of his best friend, the hooligan Marcel Fork. Almost at the same time, an accident occurs in the parking lot of the site, from which the journalist Bosch survives with serious injuries, while David, a successful scout for young soccer talents, burns to death in the car in front of his girlfriend Lea Brandstätter. Already in the morning, when David surprised Lea with his visit to Berlin, the idealistic criminal defense lawyer had the feeling that something was wrong. David seemed to be under pressure and feeling persecuted. Leah's search for reasons for David's death and for answers to a growing number of questions begins.

Lea is still in shock when the police informs her about the knife murder in the stadium. Shortly thereafter, two men vehemently demand David's documents and cell phone from her. Lea can only defend herself with the help of her mentor and partner Christina, who recognizes René Meier, the assistant to Jean Leco, President of the World Football Association (WFA), in one of the men. While investigating, Lea uncovers David's connections to the WFA and thus Leco's controversial plans for his billion-dollar project, a World League. Because a secret preliminary vote just failed, Leco now wants to turn the outcome of the election at any price. Meanwhile, Abdullah, a friend of Lea's, has cracked David's cell phone. In addition to explosive material about WFA council members, there is also an encrypted chat group. In front of the clinic where Bosch is lying, Lea meets hooligan Marcel, who is on the run from the police as a suspect. Just like Lea, he wants to find his friend's killer on his own.

Lea makes her way to Lake Constance alone. There she not only finds David's house devastated, but also meets his stunned business partner Richard Rimbauer. Together, he and David have generated sales in the tens of millions by placing African talents. Jean Leco wants to push through the World League with the help of dubious financier Casutt, but loses control of three renegade councilors: Jeanne Awona, Mohan Birla and Dung Tan Nguyen. In Berlin, Marcel stumbled upon a lead from his friend's widow that led him to a gym in the Russian hooligan scene. Marcel manages to gain the trust of leader Mikhail and a job there. Meanwhile, Lea drives to the WFA headquarters in Zurich and forces René Meier to talk to Leco. But before that happens, Meier locks her up.

Lea is freed and unexpectedly finds herself at the European anti-corruption agency, which has been tracking the official for years. With her bold demeanor, Lea got in the way of senior officer Meryem Hoffmann. Lea tries to hire them for their services and in turn to get hold of the incriminating material against Leco. In Ghana's capital, Accra, the football stadium was overcrowded, resulting in a mass panic with many victims. Leco sees this as his chance to get Jeanne Awona, Ghana's deputy sports minister, back on track for the World League. After his return, Meier of all people delivers him to the knife with secret footage of the bribery attempt and Meryem Hoffmann sees herself close to her goal. What Lea learns in a conversation about David's cooperation with the WFA shakes the image of him and her theory about his death.

In Zurich, Hoffmann agrees to a meeting between Lea and WFA President Leco, where Lea learns why the idealistic David supported the federation official's World League. Christina has finally made progress with the chat group in Berlin. She has researched that two young African players from the talent factory died almost simultaneously through suicide and an accident. Lea confronts Richard about it to no avail, but the dark side of talent scouting is becoming more and more apparent. When Bosch wakes up from the coma, Christina immediately drives to the clinic and Lea also immediately sets off for Berlin, while Leco doesn't allow himself to be cornered by the dogged investigator Hoffmann. Marcel recognizes his friend's murderers among the hooligans and learns that they are also on their way to Bosch. His warning comes too late. Lea can no longer reach Christina.

Lea has no time to mourn Christina, but her guilt tears her apart. A SEK use in the gym remains unsuccessful. Lea finds her apartment devastated. She disappears into Abdullah's laundry with Marcel and sends a message to the chat group. The search for the missing African players from the chat serviced by David and Richard is becoming increasingly urgent. Leco is under anti-corruption agency surveillance and uses his family to secretly continue his business. He discovers that the cocky financier Casutt only acts on behalf of others. Leco wants to meet the real investors and gets an unexpected visitor at his house. Mikhail suddenly appears in the laundry and threatens Lea. Exactly at that moment, someone from the chat group reports who was also said to be in the stadium.

The call from the chat group is not fruitful. In return, Lea learns from Mikhail that a bounty has been placed on her head, which only drives her even more. Marcel drives with Mikhail to Assipovichy, a city in Belarus, in search of the killers, while Lea finds another player from the chat group in Berlin. However, when she arrives at the agreed place, he is already dead. Only his diary provides information about the dirty business that David apparently wanted to end and that Richard is determined to continue. A harrowing document that tells of the hopes and homesickness, of big dreams and the boundless disappointments of young African soccer talents. Lea confronts Richard about it and believes him to be the client of the murders. He threatens her openly. Despite the suspension, Leco is undeterred in pursuing his plans for a World League. With the intervention of Leco's wife, Meryem Hoffmann is now almost empty-handed and flies to Ghana for one last chance.

Lea Brandstätter uncovered the criminal machinations of the scouting agency down to the last abyss. In Zurich, she makes a deal with Leco: the incriminating documents in exchange for rim builders. Leco shamelessly uses an emotionally staged press conference to reposition his World League, he exposes rim builders and discredits Hoffmann, who failed in Ghana. Meanwhile, Marcel discovers a house in Assipovichy where two black boys are being forced to take pornographic pictures. Mikhail takes out the hitmen and Marcel frees the boys - former TalentAgency players who have incriminating videos against rim builders and a confession from David. Lea flies to Accra with one of the players to force a confession from Felsenbauer. The World Cup begins outside and the rehabilitated President Leco carries the trophy into the World Cup stadium as if nothing had happened.
