Summary On Easter Sunday in 1993, more than 400 prisoners at the maximum-security Southern Ohio Correctional Facility started a riot. The uprising would become one of the longest and most deadly in U.S. history. During the riots eight guards were taken hostages and when it ended 11 days later, nine inmates and a prison guard had been killed. The riots began when prison officials were going to force inmates to be tested for tuberculosis. Muslim inmates said that would be a religious breach as the tests contained alcohol. Therefore Muslim leaders planned the riots together with the Aryan Brotherhood and Black Gangster Disciples. More than 800 law enforcement agents from the State Highway Patrol, army and air National Guard joined forces to stop the prisoners and the riots ended when inmates feared authorities would storm the cellblock killing anyone standing. But the end of the riots was the beginning of a doubt that can result in the death of five innocent men. Did authorities convict the people responsible of the brutal deaths or did they just need scapegoats? For the first time this doc series has access to interviewing on camera a death row inmate convicted of the killings during the riots. This documentary series also features prison guards taken hostages, media experts, negotiator, former Lucasville inmates, death row prisoner and relatives filmed around Ohio, US. View more details
