The Girl at the Lion d'Or

Ferrier is fighting in Indochina ; a German pilot takes refuge in his military post,and since WW2, he hates those people.

At the end of WWII, Japanese realize the failure will come and decide to build a secret submarine base in Hong Kong for last resistance. A China cargo boat is imposed and mariners are escorted to the base and forced to be labors. Japanese commander orders the base security officer to kill all the labors when the completion date is coming. The Chinese captain leads all his crew to fight for survival.

When this film was being made in 1938, Pearl Harbor was almost four years away. Poland had not been invaded yet. However, World War II was raging in Asia, where the Japanese perpetrated ghastly horrors upon the conquered populations. This contemporaneous Chinese film focuses upon one family's fate amidst the atrocity.
