Incidentally, an innocent couple Muku and Nayontara, lives in an area of Dhaka city where supply of drinking water is limited. In summer, water supply is ceased for a few days. Local dwellers stored some water for emergency but Muku and Nayontara have no water at all. So they beg water to every door. Nobody give them water but beat Nayontara mercilessly. Nayontara becomes revengeful and takes her revenge in different way.

In the dead of night, a teen's restless sleep spirals out of control as his past, present, and future clash in his nightmares. Only through embracing the memories can he uncover the truth and distinguish reality from the imaginary.

When Edith Howland's husband abandons her for a younger woman, leaving her with their alcoholic son and his senile uncle, she begins recording details of an imaginary, much more successful life where she has friends and grandchildren. Back in Croatia, the young man's elderly mother is also awake, plagued with indigestion pains. The old woman is also worried about her lodger, a young Spanish girl who happens to be the sister of the old woman's daughter-in-law in Spain. The young girl comes home with her new lover. He is a taxi driver who drifts aimlessly through the night while his own wife endures a sleepless night with a crying baby and a nagging mother-in-law.

The narrative begins with Santosh's arrival at a mysterious and puzzling place. Here, he meets Prakash and Ajay. It is a place where people arrive on their death. This place, it has no name and no person. It just allows one to wait. Could you wait before the unknown future? Santosh talks to Prakash and Ajay about the meaning and purpose of his being there. They are as clueless as himself. They too, like him, worry about what the future holds. Soon they are joined by Kaveri. And then Ajit, Madan, and Ismail. Each new arrival creates excitement. Yet the anxiety about the future continues. Together, they try to imagine what the future could hold. Their thoughts give an insight into their hopes and fears. Their past is reflected in their hopes for the future. The arrival of a pregnant woman, Savita shakes them more than any other. It forces them to confront the reality of their situation. Prakash realizes that what he misses most is not what wonderful things happened to him. Neither the pain of the past ache. He admits that what hurts the most are missed opportunities and unrealized experiences.
