The City of the Family

One summer morning, Ah Li's father throws himself into a lake and ends his life. After the funeral, Ah Li lives a solitary life until one day, his former girlfriend tells him she is getting married. Feeling abandoned, Ah Li goes home and drinks himself into a stupor. He then decides to go to a lakeside resort to forget his troubles in a change of scene. There, he finds himself at a lakeside restaurant, where he meets the manager, a young lady named Ah Fang.

After his Moroccan friend commits suicide, Alain, a young Belgian in his thirties, decides to leave for Morocco to understand better who she actually was and reason why she took her life . Landing in Casablanca, he feels oppressed by the restless city and decides to travel southward. Traveling by bus, by taxi or hitch-hiking, he discovers a new land and new people but also himself...
