Dreaming of more than his routine life, a father pushes his 15 years old son to break a world record: opening and closing a door 40,000 times in 24 hours.

Doc is having a rough time, despite completing a new film; his cast has served drinks, and expect to celebrate in their hotel suite but he isn't talking; he's avoiding his girlfriend, Jane: the female lead. Doc leaves the room for a while and the cast notices maybe it isn't just alcohol in their cups. The problems between these people have been held at bay by the production, now the truth about what is happening begins to unravel.

Toshiyuki Tanishi (Mr Tanishi) is a 29-year-old chronic masturbator and toy vending machine salesman - he is socially awkward and down on his luck. Things change when he meets Chiharu a pretty woman who might actually be into him. Unfortunately, he has competition for Chiharu's affection from handsome, rival vending salesman Aoyama.

Jan is sure that he and his wife Olga are on the same route. He recalls his past life when he used to have his own will and dreams and he wants to live again with dignity and freedom. He longs to control his own life again. And his solution is escape from the present life. In this movie we watch, in parallel ,the fates of Jan's married daughters Olinka and Alenka and his sons-in-law Erik and Pepík.
