Nubes grises soplan sobre el campo verde
Manuel, a 70 year old man and his son Simon, a 30 year man with a profound cognitive disability, live isolated in a small town in the Colombian countryside. For both of them, home comforts are minimal due to their physical problems, the long distances they must travel to get food and the dangers of the region, which are the arising violence of the 50's. Loneliness is not significant for Manuel, however, the current state of his health is a major concern; the appearance of a lump in his abdomen, the presence of an invasive cancer, greatly worries Manuel. The old man does not fear death, what he fears is his departure and leaving his son alone and helpless, afraid to trust something as fragile as the life of Simon to hands that are not his.
Due to the circumstances, Manuel begins to consider assisted suicide and the death of his son as a possible alternative to their problems. However, the old man is incapable of hurting his son, even though he is convinced about the relentless stalking of the disease and the vicissitudes that his child will have to endure without him.
Uncertainty seems to gain ground in the old man's house until unexpectedly, the arrival of a fugitive, a victim of the Colombian conflict, seems to shed new light. Manuel protects the man, he hides him, and heals his wounds, he saves his life, provided that this individual is convinced of the reasons that move the old and have the fugitive kill him and his son, before the illness does. To achieve this goal, Manuel will have the difficult task of turning a harmless and peaceful man, into a pious executioner.
