The American Ambassadors to Japan

Summary Ann Arbor, Michigan and Hikone, Japan have been sister cities since 1969. Every 2 years, the city of Ann Arbor sends 12 middle and high school students to Hikone, where they home-stay at Japanese homes, attend school and visit historical sites to experience the real Japanese life to broaden their perspectives on foreign cultures. They also visit Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and learn and realize the importance of peace. Before going to Japan, they fold a thousand paper cranes. They bring them to the Peace Park and present them at the statue of Sadako Sasaki, a victim of the atomic bomb in Hiroshima.
