Miriam, Doris, Inès and Christiane have been deeply connected since their school days at the "Sophianum". But the friends have much more in common: a big secret; The idyllic life in Zollberg falters when a duo of investigators from Vienna arrives and investigates a death that everyone thought had been clarified for a long time. This not only makes Miriam ponder in her function as a prosecutor; Through the investigation, the four women are confronted with their very personal fates and secrets, and their bond is put to a hard test.

Doris is fighting for her position in the company because she wants to lead the forwarding company into a new future. She has to overcome probably the highest hurdle: her own mother; The fact that Miriam wants to divorce Joachim is something he does not accept without a fight. Inès and Etienne, on the other hand, finally want to become a happy family again. But as hard as they try, Olivier doesn't. Christiane and Philipp fight against the downfall of their marriage. When Christiane begins to write again, it seems as if she can leave the past behind. Olivier seeks closeness to her, and it seems as if there is more to it than the crush of a teenager; Miriam almost loses her mind with her concern for her children and reminds her of her own childhood; Doris puts an end in the forwarding company and begins to question the events surrounding the day Paulitz died. Was Miriam really with Christiane back then?; Inès despairs, because there is still no trace of Etienne, and Olivier slowly but surely drives her crazy; The investigations of Grünberger and Leodolter go around in circles and threaten to be discontinued.

Doris saves Miriam from making a big mistake. Even the unauthorized investigations pick up speed again and drive Miriam into a corner. She has to make a decision.

In the investigations of Grünberger and Leodolter there are suddenly new clues to the events on Paulsdamm - or do they lead back to a dead end?; When Christiane's book is published, it is a new test for her relationship with Philipp; Doris realizes that her conflict with Berta will not be resolved so soon and therefore looks for a new field of activity, much to the chagrin of Sebastian; Sarah's field of activity seems to be Olivier, who in turn engages in a power struggle with the director of the "Sophianum". When Inès has to go to school because of this incident, she meets Miriam. It is clear to the two women that Miriam must now find a solution with Joachim, otherwise she and the children will fall by the wayside. She'd stoop to anything to get her way; Inès makes a radical decision with her husband Etienne.

The situation between Miriam and Joachim escalates; Inès and Etienne stick to their decision despite a guilty conscience, and Inès uses the opportunity to save their marriage. Olivier finds shelter with Sarah, but for that he has to handle his life; Christiane and Philipp finally find a way to leave the past behind; After Berta's accident, however, Doris has completely different worries: Berta makes her a confession; When Miriam has the feeling that she finally has everything under control again, the investigators Grünberger and Leodolter set about the final clarification of the Paulitz case.
